Welp! Facebook just dropped a bomb on publishers and businesses. How?

Check it out…

Last month, Facebook announced that it’s tweaking its News Feed algorithm to start showing more content from friends and family and less from brands and publishers.

Instead they’re prioritizing “meaningful social interactions” versus “relevant content.”

That means that Facebook is showing to preference to posts that come from real people and have a lot of serious engagement, like longer comments as opposed to likes and shares.

“Recently we’ve gotten feedback from our community that public content — posts from businesses, brands and media — is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg explained. Because He went on to explain that because Facebook was originally created to connect people, they’re shifting their focus toward content they believe will help people improve relationships and increase happiness.

But what does it mean for you?

Well, it’s bad news for businesses and publishers that use Facebook for organic marketing—those brands that push content out via posts to their followers. That’s because these posts won’t naturally spread as far, get as much engagement or keep you “top of mind” in your followers’ lives by infiltrating their News Feed.

So if you’ve been relying on organic posts, likes and shares to spread the word about your dealership, you’re in trouble. “As we roll this out, you’ll see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media,” Zuckerberg said.

But all hope is not lost!

Facebook VP of News Feed Adam Mosseri said that the change “shouldn’t affect ads in general” as this operates on a “separate system.”

This is awesome news for dealerships who know how to run Facebook ads to get more traffic. That’s because many dealers are still relying on publishing posts from their business page to communicate with their followers. It means if you’re running ads, you’re immediately ahead of the game because now you’ll have even less competition battling for your audiences attention.

That means it’s more important than ever that you learn how to effectively start utilizing Facebook Ads Platform to reach your customers, spread brand awareness and generate leads. Luckily, we can show you how to do this in our free eBook about advertising in Facebook. You can download it here.
