53% of respondents reported that traffic was good last weekend. That’s up 6 points over last week. And up 3 points over October’s average. This could be good news. Most of the dealers who responded to the Dealer Confidence Index reported that they felt the election was negatively impacting the business. The current Dealer Confidence Index stands at 17.7, which indicates that dealers are moderately confident and optimistic about the state of the business. Present Situation Index And Analysis The Present Situation Index for the third quarter of 2016 now stands at -1.3, a glib outlook for the current state of the automotive market for car dealers. 53% of respondents to last weekend’s Traffic Poll reported that traffic was slow. That’s three points down from the previous week. Much of this dip is likely due to the lead up to the election, which occurred on Tuesday. But now the election is over, and in January, Donald Trump will take his seat as the 45th President of the United States. Here are the results of the Weekend Traffic Poll for October 28-30. Traffic last weekend was hit or miss with 50% of respondents reporting that traffic was good, while the other 50% had a slow week. We’ve got the results of the Weekend Traffic Poll for October 21-23, 2016, and the outlook’s not so sunny. This week, 62% of dealers reported slow traffic. That’s 22% more dealerships experiencing slower traffic last weekend than the weekend before. And Edmunds.com forecasts a 5.2 percent decrease in new car and truck sales this month from September 2016.
